Hello Meno’s!
Yes, I know, it’s been too long! I have missed you and I have certainly missed me.
Those of you that are trying to remember who I am… I am one of the many women who talk, moan and generally yack about menopause!
I love to share my journey of menopause and why I started my blog alongside my social media platforms. https://www.facebook.com/Menoandme https://www.instagram.com/menoandme/?hl=en
My background in physical activity, of nearly 27 years, has certainly saved my sanity throughout my bumpy journey of life, stresses and of course menopause.
My training as a clinical exercise professional means that even in the deepest despairs of sadness and stress I move. If I cannot move my mental health suffers, I am not ashamed to say, that it hasn’t been in a good state these last few years due to horrendous family issue’s, mixed in with 2 bouts COVID and lock down; well let me just say….I am so, so very glad to be back!
What is new in the menopause and fitness world?
We now have some wonderful voices talking about menopause and sharing their journey, such as Davina McCall, Lisa Snowdon and Penny Lancaster to name a few.
It is so important for women to have a platform to be heard, share and to receive help.
Menopause in the House of Common’s!
I certainly shed a tear when Penny Lancaster spoke about her anxiety on Loose Women, my mum or aunty would have never have spoken about it. Sadly they probably didn’t understand what was happening to them; hopeful it isn’t too late for our generation. My daughter certainly knows everything there is to know and how to prepare for her change!
I am so pleased that Davina McCall is also an advocate of menopause and also shouts about the benefits of exercise during our journey.
She is also campaigning alongside the amazing Carolyn Harris MP for Wales and menopause champion, Carolyn has started the “Menopause Revolution!” She is also campaigning for HRT charges to be dropped in England to be in line with Wales and Scotland where women do not pay for prescriptions for HRT.
This is a great news piece that highlights the above. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-59088557
What does it mean for women in England?
- The cost of repeatable HRT prescriptions will be cut
- Move set to save women who rely on HRT hundreds of pounds per year
- New government Menopause Taskforce to be co-chaired by Minister for Women’s Health, Maria Caulfield and Carolyn Harris MP

Pre-Paid Prescriptions (PPC)
Until that time it might be worth looking at a Pre-Paid Prescription.
If, like myself, you are on HRT and other medications, to keep your cost down look at buying a prepaid prescription, pay a one-off fee which covers all of your prescriptions over the year.
A PPC lets you get as many NHS prescriptions as you need for a set price.
If you regularly pay prescription charges, a PPC could save you money. The prescription charge in England is £9.35 per item. A PPC costs:
£30.25 for 3 months
£108.10 for 12 months
The quickest way to buy a PPC is to buy it online. https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/help-nhs-prescription-costs/prescription-prepayment-certificates-ppcs
